ABOUT TREATMENT

LASER HAIR REMOVAL THE PROCEDURE

The hair removal procedure itself is very straightforward. You will lie on a treatment bed and make yourself comfortable. As a safety measure, you’ll be asked to wear some protective eyewear, which the practitioner will also wear.

A thin layer of transparent, cold gel (similar to that used in ultra sound) is applied to the area so that the laser is able to move over the area with ease. The laser practitioner will then run the laser head in a sweeping motion over the area 6 to 12 times like a paint brush. It fires tiny bursts of energy 10 times a second, slowly and gently heating the hair follicles. You will feel the area warming slightly but at the same time the patented Chill treatment tip keeps your skin cool and comfortable.

  • When treating the upper lip, the teeth may be protected with gauze. The gauze also serves to support the lip during treatment, allowing a surface to push against

  • Skin colour can compete as a target for the 810nm wavelength with melanin in the hair.

  • The cooling tip will be used with the laser to minimize skin damage
Safety precautions are important during the laser procedure.

  • The client and the operator will wear protective eyewear during the procedure
AFTERCARE ADVICE
  • Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin.
  • Do not use any other hair removal treatment methods (waxing, electrolysis or tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicle at the treatment area for 4-6 weeks after treatment.
  • Shaving is allowed between treatments

  • Exfoliate. For the next two or three weeks, you’ll start to notice what looks like blackheads cropping up or hair growing back on the area that was just lasered. Don’t panic; this is normal! It’s just the hair beginning to shed, and once it’s gone. This is NOT new hair growth. Starting 48-72 hours after your laser hair removal treatment, start exfoliating.  Use a washcloth, puffy shower sponge, a loofah  or an exfoliating shower wash to help the process along. Don’t use anything very rough, like a gritty salt scrub though, because it is too rough, remember that your skin is still sensitive.

  • For 24 hours after the underarms are treated, avoid deodorant and use a powder instead in order to reduce skin irritation
  • Avoid hot baths and heat treatments and treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn, for the first 24 hours
AFTERCARE - Itchy Skin- some of clients can get
Expect Itchy Skin
  • Apply aloe during the first day to help relieve redness and sensitivity. Your skin may feel a bit itchy and irritated for about 24 hours after the treatment. This is normal.
  • A lotion, aloe gel, or hydrocortisone cream can help to help your skin calm down. Remember that if irritation persists beyond 24 hours, you should put in a call to your laser hair removal specialist; it’s most likely that nothing is wrong, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO SEE WITH LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Around 2 weeks after your laser session, the hairs start to shed. From session to session, you should notice changes such as slower growth, finer hairs and ultimately less hair.

Can I Shave After My First Laser Hair Removal?

Put away the tweezers.

Don’t even think about plucking new hair growth. You can go ahead and shave, trim or use a chemical depilatory, but no tweezing, waxing , electrical depilatory or threading that will remove the hair from its shaft.

What that means is that the laser won’t be able to do its job in eliminating those hairs during the next treatment. Stop using the Nair or other depilatory at least two days before your next treatment.

How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal?

Depending on the hair, skin type, and body area being treated, you will require treatments at 4-6 weeks intervals. For the facial area, treatments can be done at 2-4 week intervals. Each part of the facial and body area has a different growing cycle, so hair reduction will vary depending on what stage your follicles are in at the time of the treatment. After each treatment hair is reduced hence it is important to complete the course of 10 treatments and at consistent intervals for best results. We recommend a series of 8-10 treatments and maintenance treatments every 2-3 months for permanent hair reduction.

Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

One of the benefits of Laser Hair Removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than a second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. We use an advanced cooling machine in conjunction with our laser device to reduce the heat sensation on the skin and minimise any discomfort.

How long should I go in between Laser Hair Removal appointments?

Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals. Each part of the body has a different hair growth cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?
